After last night’s SummerSlam event, WWE’s main event Clash at Castle Premium Live Event became official after Clan Chief Roman Reigns defeated The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar, in an epic Last Man Standing match. Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre, who defeated Sheamus in an old-fashioned Donnybrook match on Smackdown, will face undisputed WWE World Champion Roman Reigns for both of his coveted titles.
Now that the main event is set, WWE has revealed the poster for their September Clash at the Castle event featuring Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns. Clash at the Castle will broadcast live on September 4 from the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on Peacock TV in the US, and the WWE Network everywhere else. This will be the first UK PPV in nearly twenty years since the exclusive Raw Insurrextion PPV in 2003. Furthermore, Clash at the Castle will be the UK’s first co-branded PPV, with each PPV following the original brand extension in 2002 exclusively on either Monday Night “Raw” or Friday Night “Smackdown”.
It wouldn’t be the first time WWE has ventured into the UK arena in those 20 years, as the company has had the NXT UK tag in place for five years. NXT UK has its own buyout PPV funds and has held them in places such as Cardiff and Blackpool. On “NXT UK”, stars like Gunther, Butch and Pretty Deadly announced their names to WWE before coming to the States to compete in “Raw”, “Smackdown” and “NXT 2.0”.
It’s unclear what is currently set for Clash at the Castle; However, along with McIntyre vs. Reigns, we’re expected to see the Raw and Smackdown Women’s Championships on the line, and of course the undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship.
