In the United States, a professor at Old Dominion University in Virginia has been fired for saying it was not immoral for adults to sexually seduce children. Information from the New York Post.
Allin Walker, a professor of sociology and criminal justice, attended a panel discussion on pedophilia at a forum sponsored by the Protasia Foundation, a child protection organization.
Walker said the word “pedophile” would be derogatory, and that the term “child molesters” would “seek dignity” for people who are attracted to children. According to the professor, “there is no morality or immorality associated with attraction towards a person because no one can control who they are attracted to. It does not matter who we are attracted to, whether our behavior is acceptable in response to that attraction or not.”
“Many people, when they hear the word ‘pedophile’, automatically consider it a sex offender, which is not true,” the professor said.
Walker says child sexual abuse is “never, never right,” but children do not need sexual stimulation until these bodily desires are fulfilled.
The university issued a statement saying, “The controversy surrounding Dr. Walker’s research is disrupting the campus and the social environment, interfering with the organization’s teaching and learning process.”
