In a statement released on Tuesday (13), the Russian government has plans to continue sending money to weaken democratic institutions around the world and promote political groups aligned with Russian interests.
Report submitted by Govt Joe Biden. A government official, who did not want to be identified, told the newspaper that the decision was made to reveal parts of the report precisely in order to disrupt Russia’s plans to influence political systems in other countries. The newspaper text says the report says nothing about Russian activities in the U.S. (although U.S. intelligence agencies and the Senate assess that the Russians tried to interfere in the 2016 campaign. Donald Trump elected).
The idea is not to intimidate Russia itself, but to intimidate political parties in other countries, a government official told the Washington Post.
Countries mentioned in the text:
There is also an Asian country, which has not been named, where the Russian ambassador allegedly paid the presidential candidate millions of dollars in bills.
The government official also says the Russians use shell companies and “think tanks” (think tanks) to influence the political direction of other countries (and ultimately, in favor of extremist groups).
The State Department (equivalent to the Department of Foreign Affairs) sent a statement to US embassies in more than 100 countries on Monday that detailed Russian actions and suggested ways for the Americans to respond (they cite ways to punish people who are Russian spies, fund political activities in other countries; these spies may be allowed, from travel may be banned or expelled).
The text quotes some Russian businessmen (one of whom is called “Putin’s chef” because he made money in restaurants catering to Russian government agencies).
