He was charged twice with contempt on Friday: for refusing to come to testify and for refusing to provide documents in response to Commission Sapona.
“We are overthrowing the Biden regime. I want you to pay attention. This is just noise,” he said before handing himself over.
He is expected to appear before a judge on Monday.
U.S. law enforcement wants to file a defamation suit against Steve Bannon
In October, the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives passed a resolution with 229 votes against Banon – nine of them Republicans – and 202, urging judicial action against Trump’s former strategist.

The Commission of Inquiry wants Bannon to testify because it believes he “knew in advance of the serious events that took place” when Congress met to confirm President Joe’s election victory on January 6, when Trump instigated the uprising. The protest soon turned into a conspiracy attempt against the legislature, with the invasion of the Congress building.
U.S. federal judge rejects Trump’s request to keep secret actions that led to the Capitol invasion
Prior to the eyebrow-raising Capitol attack, Bonan issued statements on his podcast: “Will there be chaos tomorrow? Many have told me, ‘If there is a revolution, it will be in Washington. Well, it will happen. Your time in history.’
Bonan used the rejected argument
A lawsuit filed by Trump to prevent the release of certain documents related to the events backed Bonan. He asked the panel to adjourn his appearance until the court decides what to do about Trump’s action, but his request was denied.
In 2016, Bonan was named one of the main strategists in the avalanche of rumors and lies that sparked Trump’s successful campaign, sparking bitterness from conservative voter sectors on issues such as immigration.
Bonan, a former banker and media executive who once ran the far-right website Breitbart News, maintains close ties with the Bolsanaro family, especially Eduardo Bolzano, a far-right deputy who he often praises as an American.
He has already given informal advice to the Brazilian clan and announced his support for Jair Bolzano before the 2018 second round election.

That This is not the first time That Banan was arrested. In August 2020, he was arrested on charges of embezzling money from a campaign in support of building a wall between the United States and Mexico.
At the time, he was out of jail on $ 5 million bail.
The “We Build That Wall” campaign raised US $ 25 million (approximately R $ 142 million) in donations from hundreds of thousands of people.
According to the judiciary, at least $ 1 million (approximately R $ 5.64 million) would have gone to Benon, who used the money in his other companies or for himself.
