The modding community for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 so far only last year, and now all of their work is starting to feel like a whole new experience.
one of the most active, tab windowsjust released a new update to its ever-growing UMvC3 mod pack that adds a new character selection screen to the game on the first attempt at a tournament-ready build.
As can be seen in the screenshots provided by the new package, the vast majority of the original cast have been replaced with modified characters that the creators have tried to balance to make them usable in mod cycles.
Moreover, it also includes a new caster for calling the fighters names, and the pack not only includes the custom Tabs characters either considering other characters such as Captain Commando, Venom, Carnage, Batsu, Sakura, and Bishop in CaliKingz01. to choose from.
Another hotfix for version 7 came with some balance tweaks and a moonstone polish.
Also since I’m making bad decisions today, here’s a generic tourney build with custom CSS with all tourney-OK modifier characters:

This does mean that you won’t be able to play as the original replaced actor, though, since the community is still trying to work on adding new character slots to Marvel 3’s selection screen.
We have counted 42 modified characters included in the mod pack in addition to Strider, Hsien-ko, Amaterasu, Storm, Modok, Ghost Rider, Doctor Doom and Shuma Gorath which are still free to choose from the old crew.
Obviously, you won’t be able to play this online easily, so you’re better off playing locally or through a streaming service like Parsec.
Things are really starting to look as if the community could make a Marvel vs. Capcom once they’ve broken through the last remaining hurdles to fully modify it.
