(Reuters) – Quebec, the country’s second most populous Canadian province, plans to force adults who refuse to be vaccinated against Covit-19 to make a “health contribution” that could spark a debate on rights. Individuals and social responsibility.

Canadian Prime Minister Francois LeCald told reporters on Tuesday that the proposal, which has not yet been finalized, does not apply to those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.
Those who are not vaccinated will cause harm to others, and the provincial finance ministry will set a “significant” amount for non-vaccinated residents to pay, noting less than $ 100 ($ 79.50).
Governments around the world have imposed travel restrictions on those who are not vaccinated, but a comprehensive tax on all non-vaccinated adults may be a rare and controversial measure.
Caroline Ells, a professor of medicine and health sciences at McGill University, said that while such a tax could be justified in the context of a health emergency, escaping a court challenge depends on the details.
But Ells expressed surprise that the government is now taking such a “dramatic” step when there are options such as further expanding vaccine orders.
Provinces across Canada are facing a rapid rise in Govt-19 cases, which have isolated tens of thousands of people and plunged the health system.
The highly contagious Ômicron variant made it difficult to control the spread, and health experts emphasized the importance of a double or triple vaccine.
