New York State Declares ‘Disaster Emergency’, with more cases and hospitalizations by Govt-19

NEW YORK – New York Governor Kathy Hochzul has issued a “catastrophic emergency” report as the state records a sharp rise in cases and additions related to the new Govt-19. This measure allows the local health department to control procedures that are considered essential and non-essential in medical facilities so that patients diagnosed with the new corona virus can receive immediate treatment.

“We continue to see warning signs of overcrowding [de casos] Govt in the winter, and though New Ômicron variant Upstate is not yet detected in New York, it is coming. Today, I signed an administrative order to help the health sector increase the capacity of the hospital before a possible spike, ”Hochul wrote on Twitter.

According to the governor, the move will allow the state to procure essential items to fight the epidemic more effectively. He appealed to the people to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

“Get vaccinated and get your booster as soon as you can,” the governor wrote.

Government action comes at a time when all parts of the state are registering a sharp rise in the number of cases. According to figures from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) compiled by the New York Times, the moving average over the past fourteen days was 6,666 cases per day on Thursday, compared to an average of 2,846 hospital admissions. On Thursday, 32 deaths were reported, down 14% from 14 days earlier.

The governor highlights the high adherence of the local population to the vaccine, despite warnings from cases and an increase in hospital admissions and the risk represented by the Omigran variant. According to the CDC, 90.3% of adults living in the state have received at least one dose of the available vaccine, and 80.5% have already completed the vaccination cycle. Of the total population, 77.5% received at least one dose and 68.2% completed the cycle.

Hochul took the opportunity to ask parents and guardians to vaccinate children between the ages of 5 and 11 – from early November, the CDC announced the use of Pfizer in doses for these ages.

“Children between the ages of 5 and 11 are eligible for the Govt-19 vaccine, and Thanksgiving break is the perfect time to vaccinate your younger children,” he wrote.

As for the vaccine, 69.9% of Americans have received at least one dose, while 59.5% have already completed the cycle.
