In Australia, scientists have confirmed the discovery of the world’s largest dinosaur, more than a decade after farmers discovered animal bones.
According to research released on Monday, the plant species lived during the Cretaceous period, 92 million to 96 million years ago, when Australia merged with Antarctica.
Paleontologists estimate that the dinosaur reached a height of 5 to 6.5 meters at the waist and 25 to 30 meters, which gives the length of a basketball court and the height of a two-story building.
This makes the new creature the largest dinosaur ever seen in Australia and the five largest dinosaurs in the world, part of an elite group of dinosaurs previously found only in South America.
“Such discoveries are only the tip of the iceberg,” said Scott Hocknell, an ancient researcher and observer at the Queensland Museum.
Paleontologists call it a robot. “Astralotian Cooperative“, Linking” South Titan “with the name of a creek near the site where the first bones of the creature were found in a ranch in Iromanga, Queensland in 2006.
The confirmation of the new creatures first discovers a seventeen-year journey and then compares the bones of the “Cooper” as the dinosaur is informally known, among other discoveries.
Dinosaur bones are so large, heavy, and fragile that they are kept in museums around the world, making scientific research difficult.
