Meghan recalls her awkward first encounter with William and Kate in a Netflix documentary

Prince Harry And the Meghan Markle Very expected Netflix The documentary is finally here, and it’s giving us an insight into how the royals act behind closed doors.

in the second episodeMeghan remembers the first time she met Prince William and Kate when the couple came over to dinner – and it turned out they weren’t cuddling.

“Even when Will and Kate came over, I met her for the first time… I remember being in ripped jeans and being barefoot,” Megan recalls.

“I was a hugger, always a big hugger, and I didn’t realize that this was really upsetting to a lot of Brits.

“I think I began to understand very quickly that the formalities outside are done on the inside. That there is a forward-facing way and then you close the door and [Meghan exhales]… and they say “Oh good, we can relax now.” But it’s a formality on both sides, and it was surprising to me.”

She also adds that the Queen was the first senior member of the royal family she met, but that she did not know the meeting would take place until minutes before it happened.

The Duchess of Sussex remembers sitting in the car with Prince Harry and being told she was going to meet his grandmother.

He said: You know how to bow right? And I thought it was a joke,” she laughs.

Adds Harry: “How do you explain to people that you’re bowing to your grandmother? And that you’re going to need a curtsy? Especially for an American, it’s weird.”

The series began with a statement written on a black background saying it was “a first-hand account of Harry and Meghan’s story told in an unprecedented personal archive”.

It said all interviews ended in August 2022 and that “members of the royal family have declined to comment on the content of this series”.

In the opening scenes, Harry is shown at Heathrow Airport in a video he shot himself in March 2020 at the height of the “Megset Crisis”, as he prepares to leave the United Kingdom for the last time as a senior royal.

He says, “This is about duty and service and I feel as if I am part of this family, it is my duty to expose this exploitation and bribery that is happening in our media.”

Meghan is seen separately, filming herself in Vancouver wearing a towel over her head and saying, “Unfortunately, we are standing for something, they are destroying us.”
