Israel Adesanya wanted a longer streak in UFC 281 loss to Alex Pereira

New York – Israel Adesanya He disagreed with referee Mark Goddard over his suspension for losing his title.

Adesanya He lost the UFC middleweight title to Alex Pereira In the main event on Saturday UFC 281. Pereira (7-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC) stopped Adesanya (23-2 MMA, 12-2 UFC), who advanced three-to-one on all three judges’ scorecards, with a fifth-round TKO.

Marked with a large left hook, Adesanya was on his wobbly legs and fell over the fence. Pereira kept the pressure up and kept the shots coming, and although Adesanya never fell on the canvas, Goddard saw enough to stop the fight.

Adesanya was not happy to stop.

“It’s crazy, but yeah, I was fine,” Adesanya told reporters at a news conference after the fight at Madison Square Garden. “The first thing I said to (coach) Eugene (Barmann) or the referee was, I was fine because I was still being honest. I was there. But yeah, it doesn’t happen.

“I was fine. I could see everything. My eyes may have drooped a little, but I was clear.”

Adesanya believed that Goddard should have let the fight continue to give him a chance to recover or come up with a more definitive way.

F*ck, my ego would say at least let me out on my shield, Adesanya said. “But I don’t think I was going out because I was still there. I’ve seen the worst pit stops. F*cking back Steve Mazzagatti. I would have been fine. Maybe he won that round, but I’m still the champ.”

As far as what’s coming, Adesnaya thinks he deserves a second match against Pereira.

But nah, I put it on the line because I don’t try to fight once and then relax, I dissolve and parade like a champ and I don’t risk So much. I put it to the test, and that’s it. Again, you dare be cool, and so am I.”
