Minister of Health, Marcelo Guerrero, Will attend the 75th World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva, Switzerland from May 22 to 28. The World Health Organization (WHO) event brings together ministers from member countries to discuss topics such as strategies to combat disease and responses to public health emergencies.
At this year’s session, the next Director-General of the WHO will be appointed under the theme “Health for Peace, Peace for Health”. Discussions are also scheduled on the new treaty on infectious diseases and the strengthening of international health regulations.
The event will feature discussions on global strategies for food security, oral health and research and discovery for tuberculosis. Ahead of the meeting, the WHO will release a set of annual health statistics for its 194 member states this Friday (20). The pre-WHA results report 2020-2021 summarizes the company’s achievements and challenges in implementing the project budget. Both documents should support the planned discussions at the meeting.
The event will feature member states, observers, and invited UN delegates. Representatives and other intergovernmental organizations and NGO actors may participate. Representatives of the legislature, partner agencies, civil society representatives and WHO experts will discuss the priorities for public health at a series of strategic roundtables.
