Adoree’ Jackson, who has been out since Week 11 with an MCL sprain, returned to practice on Wednesday for the New York Giants. Head coach Brian Dabul said before practice that Jackson was “going to do a few things.” It is officially listed as a limited practice participant.
Jackson, the Giants’ best cornerback, has been out of the lineup since he was injured while returning a punt against Detroit Lions.
Daboll didn’t, of course, guarantee that Jackson would play Sunday vs Indianapolis Colts. Wednesday, though, is the first time Jackson has practiced since his injury.
Shane Lemieux to IR
The season is over for Giants guard Shane Lemieux. He suffered a toe injury that required surgery in the first preseason game, returned from IR Week 11 against the Lions, played the first half and has not played since.
This is two consecutive seasons in which Lemieux, who was selected for the fifth round of 2020, has been injured and only managed to appear in one match.
The Giants signed former Detroit Lions first-round quarterback Jarrad Davis, linebacker, from the Lions’ practice squad to replace Lemieux. Davis, 28, was a member of Detroit’s practice squad all season and was moved up three games, playing only 36 defensive snaps. [Full story on the Davis signing]
More infection updates
Daboll said Xavier McKinney (hand) will not be training on Wednesday. He gave no timeline for McKinney’s return, saying only that he would “get there”.
Aziz Ogullari (ankle) and Leonard Williams (neck) will be limited participants in the training. Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence will get a veteran’s rest day.
After practice on Wednesday, Ogollari seemed optimistic about his chances of playing against Indianapolis.
“I think I’ll be straight,” Ogollari said. “I mean, I’m trying that’s the goal you know? Getting ready to play. So, I’m trying to see how I feel day in and day out however it takes. How I feel, that’s the main thing and we keep going.”
When he sprained his ankle Saturday against Minnesota, the Vikings Ogullari didn’t feel the injury was severe.
“I knew it was something I could come back from,” he said.

Xavier McKinney works with coaching staff while watching media. He did a sprint, then he did some practice catching tennis balls.
Making great progress: McKinney managed to catch the ball repeatedly with his left hand. I haven’t been able to catch a ping pong ball in two weeks. # giants
