Family and co-workers remember a ‘merry’ man killed in the Duncan feud

A man was shot after an argument Inside the Bronx Dunkin He was a recent immigrant from Jamaica working to support his mother and sisters back home, family members told The Post.

Police said Stephen Stewart, 24, was found unconscious and shot in his middle section at 3559 Holland Avenue, after a heated exchange with a woman inside the restaurant spilled out onto the street.

“He is always the one who brings peace. He destroyed most of the family. His aunt, who did not give her name, said in an interview. “I don’t know why someone would do this to him, in a simple matter. This did not call for someone to lose.”

His family said Stewart came to the United States only three months ago. He was working at Cooler Runnings Jamaican Restaurant on Nereid Street where co-workers said he was “always dancing”.

“He was a very cheerful, hard-working guy. It has been three weeks,” said one of the people at the restaurant, who declined to be named. “We are all so shocked.”

Police sources said Stewart and a companion left on Friday after the woman became angry because they were standing near her, and none of the men wore a mask.

Stewart’s friend said the woman followed, and threatened to get her boyfriend. A man appeared moments later and told the woman to “go get her,” said the friend, who said he ran while Stewart stayed behind.

When the friend returned to the scene, Stewart died, according to his friend.

A Dunkin’ Donuts worker said Stewart was not involved in the dispute.

“She was arguing for no reason. He was just there, that’s it, just listening,” said the employee, who asked not to be named. “He shot the wrong guy.”
