The emotional indie game This War of Mine has a new DLC release planned for November 14th, exactly four years after the release of the first episode, Father’s Promise.
The DLC, called The Last Broadcast, came with a short teaser trailer that doesn’t give away much of what we will find in the expansion. Nevertheless, we have no doubts we’ll have an excuse to play this gem again.
Big Plans For The Last Broadcast
11 bit studios, the devs behind This War Of Mine, have always shown to have big plans for their project, that has been the focus of their endeavors four years since. The game has caught the attention of all major medias thanks to its polished graphics and the themes involved. Impersonating war survivors, players will have to scavenge to provide for their group, as well as protecting the shelter from external incursions.
The setting offers plenty of space for emotional scenes and was never meant to be kept on the down-low. Particularly, for The Last Broadcast, 11 bit studios joined forces with Meg Jayanth, writer of IGF winner for Narrative 80 Days.
This last project is, according to Project Lead Tomasz Kisilewicz, much bigger than the first chapter; as stated in the press release, we can expect many surprises, such as new content, more endings, moral dilemmas, and settings:
“Surely it took us a while, but the focus was on delivering a deeply emotional story. The leading theme circles around the price of telling the truth.
In this addition, we’re introducing a lot of new content with different endings, new gameplay mechanics, new moral dilemmas about telling the truth that influence the world, new playable civilians, a new shelter people can live in, and new sites of the city of Pogoren to visit. It had to be at least as good as the other stories you can find in This War of Mine. […] We had to make sure that in the end, the community would have a story they expect from us and we couldn’t let them down. And now that The Last Broadcast is releasing, I’d like to say ‘enjoy The Last Broadcast’, but perhaps the better wording is actually ‘experience The Last Broadcast’.”
This War Of Mine: The Last Broadcast will be available on all major platforms on 14th November. The price for the new DLC is set to $ 3.99; because of the bigger content variety, the season pass price will also increase from $ 4.99 to $ 6.99.
