The Brazil’s Independent Games Festival, one of the largest indie-centric events in South America, has opened its doors to new original titles. The festival’s international panel of judges evaluated more than 650 indie games from 53 countries in 2018, while the showcase itself attracted over 36,000 attendees.

For the upcoming edition, however, the organizers expect to crush this previous record. Developers from all over the world are invited to submit their indie games – free of charge – through the form available at this link. Released commercial titles are also welcome, as long as they haven’t already been on the market for more than two years.

Once all of the indie games have been collected, they will be split into multiple categories. Judges are then going to evaluate each title’s graphics, mechanics, and functionality; assigning a score accordingly. Prizes for the 2019 edition of the BIG Festival include several trophies and a check for up to 10.000 Brazilian Reais – about 2500 Dollars and change.

How Does The BIG Festival Work?

With 6 successful editions under its belt, the Brazil’s Indie Games Festival confirms itself as a vital part of the South American gaming industry. About 87 indie titles were showcased last year, while more than 800 game development and marketing pros held various meetings at the event.

Developers won’t need a finished game in order to join the awards but their project should  still be in a playable state. According to the festival’s rules, which you can read in full here, the submitted titles also needs to be accessible to the jury, either through a direct link to a build or a dedicated page on a storefront such as Steam.

Finally, we would like to add that The Indie Toaster was given no information regarding a possible submission deadline. As the BIG festival kicks off on June 22nd, 2019, we can expect the forms to disappear as early as May 31st. Regardless, just to be on the safe side of things, we suggest you sign up as soon as possible!
