Just a few minutes ago, Nintendo finished hosting their usual Nindies Seasonal Announcement on YouTube. As the Nintendo Switch remains widely popular throughout the world the company is pushing hard to bring more indie games to their flagship console.
In a show that took up for the best part of 30 minutes, Nintendo’s Kirk Scott and Katie Casper took viewers through the list of indies we’ll be able to play on the Switch in the next few months. If you haven’t already seen the stream and want to catch up, you can do so right below this paragraph.
Classics and New Surprises on The Nintendo Switch
There’s no doubt that Nintendo has worked hard for this seasonal announcement. The video we just saw included about 10 indie games and teased even more. Some of these titles were classics we all know and love; others were surprising new announcements that we can’t wait to get our paws on.
Among those in the former group, Nintendo announced titles such as Cuphead – which hits the store on April 18th and is already available for pre-order now – Nuclear Throne – that you can already play starting today – and the highly praised indie survival horror Darkwood – which will see the light of day in May 2019.
The new releases, instead, included projects from both famous studios and skilled newcomers. We were introduced to RAD – an upcoming post-apocalyptic adventure by the fine folks at Double Fine, but also to more obscure titles such as Pine, Creatures In The Well, and Swimsanity; all available later this summer.
Finally, it seems that Nintendo has both rehashed some of their own IPs and struck a deal with Netflix. The show also mentioned Cadence of Hyrule – which was pitched to us as Crypt of the Necromancer meets Zelda – and Strangers Things – The Game, a retro-styled isometric adventure game about season 3 of the eponymous series that will be playable from July 4th.
