Hurrah, it’s that time of the year again and I am so excited! EGX Rezzed 2019 is a fantastic games event, you can think of it as the little sibling of EGX. It gives you the opportunity to check out tons of great games and in some cases, meet their creators. You can also attend talks by game developers and get advice from industry professionals.

In 2019, EGX Rezzed takes place on 4th to 6th April at Tobacco Dock in London. You can already get your tickets in advance. Whether you come for one day or all three, with friends or family, you’re bound to find something you enjoy!

So What’s On Show at EGX Rezzed?

The organisers have announced that there will be more than 200 games on show. You can check out the Show Floor page for regular updates.  Among the games I’m interested in checking out are Anno 1800, El Hijo, Kids, Nanotale – Typing Chronicles and the co-operative We Were Here Together.

At earlier games events, I had the chance to play Flotsam, Inmost and Luna: The Shadow Dust (which I wrote about here) and meet their creators. Game developers are generally a friendly bunch, don’t be shy to say hello and play their demo, and ask them questions about their game.

I particularly enjoy exploring the Leftfield Collection, which is a really eclectic collection of indie games. I previously wrote about Fingerolympics in February, which is a great little physics game that will be on show. Earlier this year, I had the chance to check out the intriguing Void of Memory at Interactive Futures. I’ve had my eye on the beautiful Omno for some time and I’m really curious about Bird Alone.

What Else Is On?

There is the Tentacle Collective and a large tabletop games section. You might also want to attend a talk at the Fringe Theatre or Developer Sessions, which cover a wide range of topics. If you’re looking to get into the games industry, you might be interested in the Career Fair, Career Bar and Portfolio Reviews sections.

Oooh, last but not least, one other great thing about EGX Rezzed is seeing lots of cosplayers. Yup, you can turn up in a t-shirt and jeans, or in your favourite onesie, or as a game character. Some people put a tremendous amount of effort into their costumes and bringing their favourite characters to life. Bravo!
