After an amazing couple of days, EGX Rezzed 2018 has come to an end. During my time atthe event I must have lost a lot of weight! I was non-stop on the go: playing games, running around, and having plenty of meetings.

So, instead of boring you with all the little details, here are my highlights of Rezzed 2018.

It’s All About The Games!

Lets face it: the reason I go to these events is to play games; and Rezzed 2018 had The Indie Toaster, EGX Rezzed 2018, Bushy Tail, Indie games some amazing games! After seeing Bushy Tail snatch first place at GamesForum Indie Pitch, I was excited to get my paws on it. Fuero Games had pitched their project very well but even that did not do the game justice.

The gorgeous art style was spectacular to see, especially as the environment changed so fluently. To experience it with the controller in my hands was epic.

Another game that deserves a mention is The Hatching. Based off the old horror film, this game left everyone smiling. Don’t worry if you haven’t seen the movie, this game is independent from it. The only similarities are the killer crocodile and its location.

This top-down slasher has you mauling the innocent civilians of a lovely England countryside. It also has stealth elements, destruction elements and, is just a boat load of fun!

My final game shout-out from Rezzed 2018 is for one I have been desperate to try. Due to how popular the stand always was, I thought I was going to miss my chance! Shift Quantum is a fantastic puzzle game that is near impossible to describe.

Your goal’s to escape each level by shifting; each time you shift air becomes solid and solid becomes air. It sounds confusing but honestly it is amazing. When released. the title will have over 100 levels of mind-melting puzzle madness.

How About Those Behind The Games? The Indie Toaster, EGX Rezzed 2018, Piece Of Cake studio, Indie games, Indie developer, Berenger Dupre, Hacktag

As much as playing games is fun, I do have to do some work at these events. This is where I get to talk to developers; and Rezzed 2018 led me to meeting one of my new favourite developers. Bérenger Dupré from Piece Of Cake Studios had so much passion for his game and rightly so, Hacktag is amazing!

Working in a team, one person infiltrates a building’s network while the other infiltrates the building. This is an awesome game that I really look forward to playing but it was Dupré who really won me over. His passion and energy put a big smile on my face.

It was good to see new faces but I am just as happy to see old faces too. After talking to Moonshine Studios a few months ago, it was brilliant to see them again. Even better was that – this time – they had something to show me too. These people have come so far in such a short amount of time, I am excited to see what they do next!

Another team I was happy to see once again were those at Oceanspark Studio LTD, who are the creators of Tetra. Three young amazing developers with a very ambitious project. Tetra is a massive RPG that I have been swooning over since I first saw it at GamesForum. The controls are amazing and the gameplay is so much fun that it really stole my RPG loving heart.

Goodbye EGX Rezzed 2018

Overall, this year’s Rezzed has been brilliant. It is great to see how many amazing projects are emerging from the indie side of the industry and Rezzed 2018 really highlighted that. Many looked polished and brilliant even though were only alpha builds. In my opinion, this really shows us the potential of indie games.

Last thing: there were so many titles I would love to rave about so… I will make a second article all about them! That is it for this year though.
Rezzed 2018 has been a blast!
