Documents show that the military sought to circumvent the STF (Supreme Federal Court) ruling on the repeal of three orders issued in April last year by increasing control and surveillance mechanisms for guns and ammunition.
The information comes from an article in the Folha de S.Paulo newspaper that obtained the documents obtained by Instituto Sou da Paz.
With the same aim of improving the control of weapons and ammunition, the military will issue new orders to replace the canceled orders. The new rules were ready in December 2020, but documents show that they remained in military command for almost ten months until September 2021.
Documents were released prior to examining the matter in court, indicating that the military had tried to make the investigation at the STF impossible, according to experts consulted by Fola.
The maneuver did not work, however, and the case’s spokesman, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, made a personal decision to re – establish the validity of the previous rules.
Carolina Ricardo, director of the institute Sol da Boss, said the new order had been on the military desk for ten months and the fact that it had been issued prior to the trial showed that the company was not committed to its policy on weapons surveillance. And ammunition.
