A 19-year-old woman from Brazil has been arrested for trying to hide 3.9 kg of cocaine in two suitcases. Indonesia. Manuela Vitória de Araújo Farias was detained at the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali by the country’s customs authorities.
According to O Globo newspaper, two of his suitcases contained five packages of drugs, which were discovered when X-rays were taken. In addition, she had four more Clonazepam tablets in her Louis Vuitton bag.
The young woman said she did not know about the substances, according to a statement by Gombes Ivan Eka Putra, director of Bali’s Narcotics Investigation Unit. Manuela allegedly told authorities she was promised entry into a surfing school in exchange for carrying her luggage.
The person who received the drugs is yet to be identified by local police. Indonesian law provides for life imprisonment and the death penalty for some drug-trafficking cases.
