A volcano has erupted on the outskirts of the capital, Reykjavik Iceland, this Wednesday (3). Video footage shows lava rising from the ground.
In 2021, the eruption occurred about 40 kilometers from the city of Reykjavík near Mount Fakradalsfjal, which had been erupting for six months.
“An eruption has started near Fagradalsfjall. The exact location has not yet been confirmed,” the meteorological agency, which monitors seismic activity, said.

Although there is no ash column, “pollution due to emissions of gases can be detected,” the agency warned.
The National Airport Authority said that no flight services have been affected so far. There is a red light that prohibits aircraft from flying over the site (however, helicopters were dispatched to analyze the situation).

The Fagradalsfjall mountain belongs to the Krišuvik volcanic system on the southwestern Reykjavík peninsula. Iceland.
